A New Season Begins at Rottal
As the days grow longer and the countryside around Rottal begins to wake from winter, there’s a real sense of excitement here at Rottal Estate. Spring always feels like the start of something new, and this year we have plenty to look forward to and it has been a busy season already.
We recently had the pleasure of hosting a luxurious, bespoke and private food-led experience, ‘Highland Hearth’, from the wonderful Raes of Montrose at Rottal Estate.
Our guests experience began with a magical winter journey across the snow-covered beauty of Rottal Estate. Wrapped in warmth, they travelled by private Land Rover Defender, carving through the rugged Highland landscape to reach our cosy Highland bothy.

Inside, a roaring fire and crackling flames set the scene for an intimate Chef’s Table experience. A thoughtfully curated three-course menu celebrated the very best of Scotland’s larder, from exceptional Angus beef to vibrant seasonal vegetables, each dish crafted from locally sourced ingredients and paired with fine wine and carefully selected whisky from Glencadam Distillery.
Candlelit tables, fire-roasted cuisine, and the warmth of Highland hospitality created an immersive dining experience unlike any other. This exclusive private dining event blended authentic Scottish flavours with refined, high-end touches, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to connect with the land, the traditions, and the soul of the Highlands. We are delighted to be able to offer this unforgettable experience at our beautiful estate.

Our Food & Drink Festival Returns This August
One of the biggest dates in our calendar is our Rottal Steading Food & Drink Festival taking place on Saturday 29th August.
Planning is already well underway as we bring together a fantastic selection of local producers, artisan makers and food vendors. The festival celebrates the best of local food and drink, with visitors able to browse stalls, meet producers and enjoy a relaxed summer atmosphere in the beautiful countryside setting of the Angus Glens.
It’s quickly becoming a highlight of the summer calendar, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another delicious and vibrant event.

Winter Welcomes Back Our Annual Festive Pop-Up Café & Makers Market
Looking ahead to the end of the year, we’re also preparing for the return of our Festive Pop-Up Café and Makers Market at Rottal Steading on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th November.
As the festive season approaches, Rottal Steading will once again be filled with local crafts, seasonal treats and plenty of Christmas gift inspiration. Visitors can expect a carefully curated selection of independent makers, artisan products and festive food, making it the perfect way to start the Christmas season while supporting local businesses.

Wedding Season Begins at Rottal Steading
Spring also marks the start of wedding season at Rottal Steading, and we’re delighted to welcome our first wedding of the year in May.
Seeing couples bring their vision to life in this unique rural venue is always something special. With its historic stone buildings and beautiful countryside surroundings, the steading provides a truly memorable setting for weddings and celebrations.

2026 Wedding Trends Couples Are Loving
For couples currently planning their celebrations, several exciting 2026 wedding trends are emerging that suit countryside venues perfectly.
These include:
Outdoor ceremonies and drinks receptions that make the most of natural surroundings
Seasonal and locally sourced food and drink for a more personal dining experience
Long banquet-style tables creating a relaxed, sociable atmosphere
Natural colour palettes with wildflowers and greenery inspired by the landscape
Weekend-style weddings where guests can stay longer and fully enjoy the setting
These trends reflect a growing desire for weddings that feel relaxed, meaningful and connected to the landscape.
